“I have the good fortune to cross every day, in every season of the year, for work-related reasons (servicio de correos del Maradagàl), the most secluded and outlying, and therefore most intimate, part of Brianza — namely the Lecco area, which is still in good condition. I cannot remain unmoved by landscapes such as those of Montevecchia, Perego, Annone… From the heights of Bevera (Imbever — a reminder of a sign put there by a public authority guided by a sense of identity, though not yet by risentimento), I stop every day to admire the landscape of this Brianza, with its hills of jagged profiles, from which a delightful bell tower always stands out, even through the mist, and all the more so on clear spring days. From there, too, by casting one’s gaze across the landscape, one can take in, in a single breathtaking view, the entire ring of the Lecco peaks and, farther beyond, the whitened rocks of the Alps.”
